App that screens for undiagnosed cases of Alzheimer’s

An estimated 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, a number that is projected to rise to more than 13 million by 2050, and it has been estimated that early diagnosis could save up to $7.9 trillion in medical care costs.

In an attept to address this problem a group of researchers have developed a simple screening tool for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias made up of a 30 question survey that can be completed in 2-3 minutes prior to seeing a clinician. The results are instantly tallied allowing the clinician to determine whether follow-up is warranted.
