Apps Improve Medication Adherence

A recent survey shows that in the US at least half of the nation’s medication users aren’t taking their drugs as prescribed – costing some $300 billion a year in avoidable healthcare expenses, or $1,000 per person – medication adherence is therefore a significant issue.

The same survey finds that those using prescription medicines would benefit from using apps and wearables to help them improve adherence with 74 percent of 18 to 34 year olds and 62 percent of 35-54 year olds believing such tools would help them.
