Blockchain and Pharmaceutical Data Management

Blockchain, originally devised for the digital currency Bitcoin, is now being widely adopted by other industries including pharmaceuticals where it has the potential to benefit every stage of the development lifecycle. Blockchain could be particularly useful where data is being collected, recorded and maintained from a large number of patients and where data security and integrity is of particular relevance, Post Authorisation Studies for example.

Integrating Blockchain, mobile technology e.g. iWatch and user friendly mobile apps would allow thousands of patients participating in a new drug launch to easily record and report Post Authorisation Study data, safe in the knowledge that the data integrity has been preserved, a major concern for both regulators and consumers.
